Failed Reagan Supreme Court Nominee Predicts Civil Rights Will Destroy Religious Freedom

Robert Bork is out predicting that a “terrible conflict” is going to empower the sodomite beast and its legions of secular gay fascists to sacrifice the beating heart of Catholicism on a Pagan altar of equality. Bork believes that the new protections - which will protect LGBTQ Americans against violence and discrimination and allow women the freedom to exercise their reproductive rights - will throw down with Jesus. “We are going to see in the near future a terrible conflict between claimed rights of homosexuals and religious freedom.” Which sounds pretty cool, I hope the pink pistols show up.

After that, he rants about how nobody calls god anymore so he is getting lonely and that we’re a society that is “now going down a path towards kind of a happy-go-lucky nihilism.” So everybody - all together now - lock your arms, skip down the street and sing along; ‘god is dead, use your head, have some fun while in your bed, cause no god’s watching to judge your acts, so stay out of church and just relax’!

Oregon Church Refuses to Sign ANY Marriage Certificates Until Gays Have Equal Marriage

The First Congregational United Church of Ashland, Oregon is taking a stand against the homophobic machine. Okay, they’re not really abandoning the Bible - but they are refusing to participate in the hetero-normative system of marriage until LGBTQ couples have equal marriage rights. Rev. Pam Sheppard says:

“I’ve been for civil rights for gay and lesbian people for a long, long time, but I never thought, ’I’m helping the discrimination every time I sign a license.’… Every time I sign a license, it’s like I’m saying, ’OK,’ but it’s not OK.”

No, it’s not ok. Boycotting marriage is a great way to take a stand against homophobia, and since you’re not getting married you can actually enjoy your life.

Muslim Family Kicked Off Airplane for Looking for a Safe Seat

A Muslim family was taken off of an AirTran flight from Washington D.C. to Orlando, when an issue arose. The FBI cleared them of any wrongdoing, yet AirTran refused to let the people back onto the plane or rebook them. The family consisted of two brothers and their wives, their sister, three children, and a family friend who were all traveling to visit family and attend a religious conference. While boarding the flight they were discussing where the safest seats were, in case of an accident. Apparently some bigots on the plane decided that the safest seats were on the plane without a family of Muslims on it so they went to a flight attendant and accused the whole family of being terrorists.

ACLU Challenges New Homophobic Arkansas Adoption Law

While most of the nation watched with baited breath as the poll numbers for prop 8 were counted, most missed the other electoral atrocities being committed in Arkansas not only against GLBTQ citizens, but children, unmarried individuals, and anyone living outside of the hetero-normative society. On November 4th 2008, Arkansas took away the right of anyone living with a partner outside of a heterosexual marriage to adopt a child. Notice that if you are a married heterosexual couple you can adopt children even if you are minors yourselves.

This. Is. Monstrous. In their quest to oppress the gay community, the religious right have willingly put foster children - the most helpless members of our society - directly in harm’s way. As of 2006, only 81% of adoptive families in Arkansas were married couples. In one fell swoop Arkansas has eliminated potentially up to 19% of their adoptive families. This means that potentially 19% of these children who would have had homes will now be left to struggle through the brutal foster care system.

So who supported, pushed, and enabled this vile and unconstitutional measure?

Christian Group Calls for an “Exodus” From Public Schools

Let’s face it, if you want to be a wing-nut then knowledge is a problem. You’ve got your worldview and whether you belive that the government is lying about the moon landing or that the earth is only a few thousand years old, all that pesky free/mandatory public education is a problem.

That’s why Retired Army Reserve Chaplain E. Ray Moore has founded the Exodus Mandate, an organization dedicated to liberating children from all that seditious education that is a basic civil right of all children:

“Exodus Mandate is a Christian ministry to encourage and assist Christian families to leave Pharaoh’s school system… for the Promised Land of Christian schools or home schooling.”

The “promised land” seems to include some confusing lessons about geography and government. Maybe this is a prophecy of the “change” we’re all supposed to be getting… all hail Paharoh-elect Obama!

Rick Warren Applauds Obama for the “Courage” to Embrace Hate

Obama’s new prayer buddy Rick Warren is sounding off on people demanding that Obama kick his bigoted ass out of the inauguration ceremony:

“I commend President-elect Obama for his courage to willingly take enormous heat from his base by inviting someone like me, with whom he doesn’t agree on every issue, to offer the Invocation at his historic Inaugural ceremony.”

Don’t be hatin’, Obama’s got some serious balls - balls he is using to teabag the LGBTQ equality movement.

If you want to demand a bigot-free inauguration you can contact the President Elect here.

Whats Wrong With Rick Warren - A Guided Tour of Warren’s Hateful Beliefs

Alot of people are confused about the outrage surrounding Rick Warren these days; he has always seemed a bit more moderate that his peers, after all. These confused people want to know why LGBTQ Americans and their civil-rights-minded allies are so mad about Warren’s place in Obama’s inauguration. I mean this is Rick ‘fights AIDS’ Warren, this is the man who wrote that not terribly scary book The Purpose Driven Life, what could be so wrong with him?

In short, he’s a misogynistic bigot - albeit a bigot who has been very slick at defining himself publicly by his soft-sell manner rather than his hard line beliefs. The problem people have is that once you crack Warren’s affable and philanthropic shell, you find his gooey bubbling core of Evangelical bigotry.

George W. Bush Moves to Fund Religious Discrimination With Your Tax Dollars

George Bush isn’t satisfied at making a gloryhole in the wall of separation between church and state through which he can funnel tax money into faith-based programs - he wants to sanction their faith-based discrimination as well.

In 2007 the Department of Justice ruled that the Evangelical Christian organization World Vision could be funded through the DOJ - even though it requires all employees to adhere to a Christian statement of faith. Bush’s underlings at the Department of Labor and The Department of Health and Human Services are rushing to establish regulations that would allow a similar exemption for faith-based discrimination before Bush’s term is up.

This program would allow Christian organizations to take your money and pump it into advancing Christian ministries while broadly discriminating against the rest of the population. Put simply, while every other organization funded by the Federal Government is required to treat all workers equally and is barred from religious discrimination, these groups will receive a ‘get out of civil rights free’ card from the White House.
